Pediatrician 's  Response
Hello,

In this condition, there is increased pressure within the skull. This places pressure on the nerves of the eyes.

As a result a decrease in vision followed by blindness happens. Because this progression happens over a short period of time, I suggest that you get a second opinion from a different neurosurgeon AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

A neurosurgeon who sees many patients with pseudotumor cerebri would be the best specialist to evaluate your daughter.

A very experienced neurosurgeon will likely be at a University Medical Center with a medical school.

Depending upon the locations of her school and your home she can be evaluated either close to home or near school.

There must be no delay in getting an appointment. Make certain that you(and her father) go to the doctor with her and that you bring her medical records, lab results, and scans with you.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr Arnold Zedd, Pediatrician
